Uk Box Office 23-25 April

Another week at the top for CLASH OF THE TITANS in an overall disappointing weekend, with no film taking more than £1 million at the box office. DATE NIGHT debuted strongly, showing TV stars Steve Carell and Tina Fey have pulling power. IT'S A WONDERFUL AFTERLIFE and THE JONESES had minimum appeal and opened with poor averages. The real disaster is Mike Judge's EXTRACT, which opened with an awful £220 per screen average in 120 cinemas.

1- CLASH OF THE TITANS (£982,375)
2- DATE NIGHT (£929,977)
3- HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON (£815,611)
4- DEAR JOHN (£806,773)
5- KICK ASS (£631,556)
6- THE GHOST (£627,888)
7- NANNY MCPHEE 2 (£393,192)
8- IT'S A WONDERFUL AFTERLIFE (£354,131)
9- ALICE IN WONDERLAND (£277,024)
10- THE JONESES (£244,386)

  1. I think you will find the weather has been good in UK for 2 weeks and as such do you really want to watch a film when you could be on a beach @brighton

  2. I've seen Clash of the Titans & it was pretty poor; I'd rather fork my own eye out than watch Date Night, Dear John or Nanny McPhee though!

Kick Ass was great, Alice in Wonderland was meh & the Joneses was a good idea but had a really poor ending - there were 10 people at the 6.40pm Cineworld showing last night...

  3. Going to see Extract on Wednesday! It's on at the Crawley Cineworld; as are two other films not in the Top Ten (Agora and Centurion) I might do a Sad Cinema Geek All-Dayer and see them all...
Hey, I made it to the Beach LAST week, Anonymous - and managed to see Psycho, Whip It and The Ghost (anyone else think Ewan Mac is AWFUL in it?) God Bless Shift Work and our wonderful Multiplexes and Uniplexes!
Sex & The City 2 four times a day at The Dukes, though, Jon?! If it packs 'em in, I suppose...

  4. Isuspect if it had been Jon's choice we wouldn't have Sex,etc foisted upon us-remember there's a programmer in the equation-if it brings in the dosh, well and good;but people are used to going to the Multiplexes for this kind of thing.I might be doing J a disservive with this comment-I apologise if so.It's a pity that the summer blockbuster couldn't have been Robin Hood,though-at least Ridley Scott's got some sort of form as a director-it might even have persuaded my husband to visit the cinema-his devotion to the ErrolFlynn version knows no bounds
